Google secure search over SSL PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 20 June 2010 11:59
Google Search introduce new SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) feature. The Secured channel can be used by entering https://www.google.com on the browser address box instead of http://www.google.com every time you perform a search. Note that as other products from Google as Maps and Images aren't ready yet for secure search, those options will be missing from the page.
ssl_logo_lgSSL protocol will encrypt the communication between your PC and Internet, but only at the search results page; once you click on a result link you'll be driven away from a secure connection if the website you visit isn't providing a https feature.
The use of SSL may slightly slow down your browsing experience because of extra time necessary for secure the connection.
As a final point note that no security feature isn't perfect, so pay attention for where you're browsing all the time.
